Hurricane Review By James P. Gorman "Without readers a writer's quill dries up & he fades into obscurity"

 Hurricane Review

A writer never loses the opportunity to put his thoughts into print.
Thursday 8/25/2011; I swim in the ocean and the sea is very choppy & cold
I  question is this my last swim for summer 2011 as temperatures level off at mid 70’s
The pending Irene’s path is contunuosly being hyped on all T.V  radio channels.
Has God & nature decided the summer is over before the customary Labor Day weekend
events……….the charcoal grey  shifting clouds mixed with a soft rain, bring out a beautiful
detailed wide ban rainbow at 4:30 PM, the colorful multi band arches directly over the
Sephardic synagogue…I question……..maybe they are the chosen people, if so
do I change religions; or by hanging their head in spiritual prayers, do they miss out on the
glory of God above their heads. Friday 8/26/2011…as hurricane hype increases it is beautiful
summer day….friday….known as “The calm before the storm”….I go down to the ocean….Irene’s
rath is starting to show………..the waves are averaging 8 to 10 feet…people look in amazment as
both surfers & kayakas try to catch the perfect wave of the endless summer…I put my ankles
in the warm surf & throw the saltwater on my face & head….at ankle deep….I can feel the
magnetic pull of the strong surf, there are no foolish swimmers, the beach is officially closed
except for young surfers and one sober observant writer…..in closing hurricane questions
that come to mind…..before all natural disasters there is a run at the supermarket for the
three basic staples of milk, eggs and bread. Which brings the question to my mind, if your
going to die in a flood, is it important the you last meal be French toast ?....I on the other hand
take the road less traveled & obtain the necessities of vodka, wine, cigarettes, a good DVD
let romance & the moment have its way…..OMG!!...she murmured, I felt the earth move”
What’s up with duct taping the windows with a huge satanic “X”? does it make you feel involved?
I to be odd & different tape a “Y” on my windows with a blue tape…The only thing taping does is
makes you curse & feel frustrated the day after as you unglue it from the window.  My disturbed mind
always related window taping to the blood of the lamb  on Passover. perhaps the rath of God’s
fury will Passover all those who made an attempt at futility.  does anyone want to buy 20 sheets of slightly used plywood? In closing as the song goes“Goodnite Irene” you are now irrelevant & past history…My blood pressure will go sky high at the first idiot I see wearing a “I survived Irene 2011 tee shirt.
The end

The storm has passed and the Atlantic waters are ready to bring enjoyment to the Jersey Shore Beaches are starting to open back up and yes there will be a labor day at our beaches The Official End of Summer will be great. Today in Bradley Beach NJ the public works department and the lifeguards work together to get the beach open and at about 1:30 people were starting to reenter the beach front area. Surfers were allowed to enter the water under the watchful eyes of Bradley Beach NJ lifeguards. Here is some photo's of the beach taken today by our volunteer staff.
