Paul Anka  (b. 1941 in Ontario) recorded his first song when he was 14.  He was already a millionaire while still a minor.  Anka became famous as a singer songwriter in the late 1950′s and 60′s. His biggest hit,  “Diana,” sold more singles than any record other than “White Christmas.”
Paul Anka not only wrote music for himself, but he also wrote for other performers including Tom Jones and Michael Jackson.  He wrote the theme song for the Johnny Carson show and the lyrics for the Sinatra hit “My Way.”   Later in his career he appeared in movie roles including a part in “The Longest Day.”
Paul Anka became one of the first pop singers to play in Vegas. He is coming to Ocean Grove after a successful performance at the Resorts Casino in Atlantic City. That show was said to be very enjoyable, with Anka fronting a superb orchestra and making jokes while chatting with the audience. His last two albums contain music from recent years that he has reworked in his style. Tickets for the Saturday show are available at the box office or at www.oceangrove.org    PG
